Use Sumo Headbutt to check Zangief's approach, but vary the strengths to make it harder for him to time a Perfect Parry.
- 0
Be cautious with Sumo Smash, as Zangief can consistently anti-air this move with Double Lariat if you become predictable.
- 0
Utilize standing heavy punch to poke at Zangief from a distance, keeping him outside of his command grab range.
- 0
Hundred Hand Slap is excellent for burning Zangief's Drive Gauge, but be wary of his Level 2 or Level 3 Super counters if he has meter.
- 0
Use Oicho Throw to punish Zangief for over-committing to blocks or parries, but remember his own command grabs have superior range.
- 0
Maintain a healthy Drive Gauge, as being burnt out against Zangief makes it nearly impossible to escape his command grab loops.
- 0
Counter Zangief's jump-ins with crouching heavy punch or an appropriately timed Sumo Headbutt to prevent him from starting his pressure.
- 0
When Zangief uses Drive Impact, respond with Hundred Hand Slap to break his armor or use your own Drive Impact to push him back.
