Control the horizontal space with Whirlwind Shot to force Zangief to jump or use Lariat, which can be punished if timed correctly.
- 0
Avoid using Eagle Spike predictably, as Zangief can punish it heavily with a command grab if he blocks it.
- 0
Use Arabian Skyhigh to alter your air trajectory and bait out Zangief's Lariat anti-air, allowing for a punish on his recovery.
- 0
Keep Zangief at bay with long-reaching pokes like Standing Heavy Kick, but be wary of his ability to armor through them with charged Heavy Punch.
- 0
Deploy Yasar (Level 2 Super) to create a mobile barrier that limits Zangief's movement and forces him into defensive situations.
- 0
Utilize Rashid's wall jump to escape the corner quickly, as being trapped against Zangief often leads to high-damage guessing games.
- 0
Be cautious with Drive Impact near Zangief, as many of his heavy normals have armor or can be canceled into high-damage Supers.
- 0
Use Spinning Mixer as a reliable anti-air to stop Zangief's jumping attacks before he can start his strike-throw pressure.
