Use Sand Blast to contest Ryu's Hadoken, as the projectile speed can often beat Ryu's recovery and disrupt his zoning rhythm.
- 0
Rely on Rising Rocket for anti-airs to discourage Ryu from jumping over your projectiles, as he lacks the air mobility to adjust his trajectory.
- 0
Luke's standing medium punch is an excellent tool for checking Ryu's forward movement and starting pressure without overextending.
- 0
Be careful using Drive Impact against Ryu's fireballs at mid-range, as Ryu recovers quickly and can often counter with his own Drive Impact.
- 0
Utilize light Flash Knuckle to maintain pressure while staying safe, especially if Ryu is looking to use Shoryuken to break out of your strings.
- 0
Incorporate Drive Rush cancels from your crouching medium kick to close the distance when Ryu is focused on his fireball game.
- 0
Watch for Ryu's Denjin Charge; when he has it active, his fireballs become multi-hit and can break through your own Sand Blast.
- 0
Use Vulcan Blast (Level 1 Super) as a long-range punish if you anticipate Ryu throwing a fireball while he is low on health.
